What is a free-standing jib crane? Free standing jib cranes are made up of two main parts, the upright column which is specially designed to be fixed securely to a suitable floor, (please contact us if you need more information on suitable floor) this column can be manufactured at any height to meet your requirement. At the top of the pillar is where the arm is fixed. This horizontal arm is what the hoist will fit on. The arm is connected to the column with a strong low maintenance locking pin – The arm will swing or slew from left to right up to an angle of 270° this arc can be restricted with slewing locks if required. The jib arm can be manufactured at a length to suit your requirements.

Choosing the correct Jib Crane? How to choose your free-standing Jib crane - Before contacting Ultimate Lifting Solutions you will need to know the following information on how to choose your Jib crane.

Jib Crane Markings? SWL / WLL (Safe Working Load / Working Load Limit)

what capacity do I need the free-standing jib to be? We suggest this to be as close as possible to the weight of the heaviest component you will be lifting – ie – If you object to be lifted is 100Kgs – choose the 125Kgs Jib

What Height Jib do I need – this is commonly known as height of lift. Tell us the size of the item to be lifted – tell us what you need to lift onto and very important, do you have any height restrictions.

What outreach required – basically this means the length of the Jib arm. Take into consideration where you need this jib arm to reach, keep in mind if any restrictions are to be thought of.

Rotation angle – commonly known as the slewing angle, as standard a Floor standing Jib crane has a 270° slewing angle – is this enough? Is this to much? Will it hit into other objects – we can fit slewing limits if required.

Do you require a hoist – Most commonly fitted hoist to a swing jib is the electric hoist – this will speed up production time and aids the operator – it will pay for itself in no time at all – we also supply manually operated hoists as well. And also, tool or spring balancers to aid small production lines

Hoist suspension – As standard Under-braced I Beam Jib Cranes will have either a push travel or electric trolley fitted.

Floor condition – Most Jib cranes are installed on a concrete floor by resin anchors – the floor needs to be a certain thickness and quality – we advise your floor is inspected by a structural engineer to confirm the floor meets the requirements of the Jib – Full loading and a drawing can be provided by ultimate Lifting Solutions to aid you in confirmation the stability of the floor.

Installation – Ultimate Lifting Solutions offer the full package, design, and supply of Jib cranes, but we also offer installation of Jib Cranes, we have installed at any location around the UK with our fully qualified engineers that have been installing Jib cranes for many years.
