Frequently Asked Questions About Round Slings
What is the difference between a round sling and a webbing sling?
While both are made from polyester, a round sling consists of a continuous loop of yarn protected by a tough outer sleeve. This "endless" design allows the user to rotate the bearing points, extending the life of the sling. Webbing slings are flat and usually have reinforced eyes at each end.
How do I identify the weight capacity of round lifting slings?
Most round endless slings follow a standard colour-coding system (e.g., Purple = 1t, Green = 2t, Yellow = 3t). Additionally, each sling features a "tonnage stripe" - one black line for every tonne of capacity - and a visible ID tag with the WLL and certification details.
Are your round slings compliant with UK safety standards?
Yes. All our rigging and slings are manufactured to EN1492-2 standards and are supplied with a Declaration of Conformity. We recommend that all lifting equipment be inspected by a "Competent Person" at least every six months.
Can I use round slings in a "Choke Hitch"?
Yes, round lifting slings are excellent for choke hitches. However, please remember that using a sling in a choke hitch typically reduces the Working Load Limit (WLL) to 80% of its rated capacity. Always check your load chart before lifting.
