Wire Rope Slings

Welcome to the Ultimate Lifting Solutions range of wire rope lifting slings. Engineered for high-performance industrial applications, our wire rope assemblies are the industry standard for durability and strength in construction, engineering, and marine environments.

Unlike synthetic alternatives, a wire rope sling offers superior resistance to abrasion and heat, making it the preferred choice for heavy-duty lifting in harsh conditions. We offer a comprehensive selection of configurations to suit any lift, including:

Single Leg Wire Rope Slings: Ideal for straight vertical pulls or hitch applications.

Two Leg Wire Rope Slings: Designed for balanced lifting of symmetrical loads.

Four Leg Wire Rope Slings: The ultimate assembly for maximum stability and complex, heavy loads.

Every wire rope lifting sling we supply is manufactured in strict accordance with BS EN 13414-1:2003, ensuring your site remains fully compliant with UK safety regulations.

        Precision-Engineered Wire Rope Lifting Equipment

When selecting the right wire rope lifting sling, the quality of the finish and components is paramount. At ULS, our slings are constructed from high-quality galvanised wire rope, providing excellent corrosion resistance for long-term outdoor use. To ensure maximum safety at every lifting point, our assemblies are fitted with Grade 80 (Grade 8) master links and hooks.

We provide a variety of terminations to suit your specific rigging needs, including mechanically swaged soft eyes, thimble eyes, and specialist hook attachments. Because we understand that every project has unique requirements, we can supply wire rope slings in bespoke lengths and diameters to achieve the exact Safe Working Load (SWL) your operation demands.

All our wire rope lifting slings are supplied fully certified, featuring unique identification tags and the relevant EC Declaration of Conformity. This means your equipment is ready for immediate inclusion in your LOLER register upon delivery.

        Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Safe Working Load (SWL) of a wire rope lifting sling?

The SWL depends on the diameter of the rope, the number of legs, and the angle of the lift (the angle of wrap). We provide detailed load charts for every wire rope sling configuration to help you ensure you never exceed the rated capacity of the assembly.

Are these slings resistant to chemicals and heat?

Wire rope lifting slings are far more resistant to heat and UV damage than polyester webbing slings. However, they should not be used in temperatures exceeding 100°C or in highly acidic environments without consulting our technical team for a specialist coating or stainless steel alternative.

How often should a wire rope sling be inspected?

Under LOLER regulations, all lifting equipment must be thoroughly examined by a competent person at least every six months. You should also perform a pre-use inspection for any broken wires, kinking, or signs of corrosion before every lift.

What is the difference between a soft eye and a thimble eye?

A soft eye is a simple loop of rope, ideal for hitching or attaching to large crane hooks. A thimble eye includes a metal insert that protects the wire from wear and prevents the eye from crushing under heavy loads, significantly extending the life of your wire rope lifting sling.
