Column-mounted Jib cranes or arms are cost-effective for any factory-restricted on-floor space.

As the name suggests, a column-mounted Jib Crane can be fitted to any structural beam within the factory or outside to suitable steelwork. As long as the supporting steel structure has been passed to ensure it is strong enough to sustain not only the weight of the Jib arm but the load to be lifted. Most structural engineers confirm the requirements if required.

The column-mounted Jib is a much cheaper option than the floor-mounted Jib as it is supplied without the expensive upright mounting pillar – this makes this jib style the most cost-effective option.

When a column-mounted jib is purchased from Ultimate Lifting Solutions, it is supplied as the swinging arm offering a large slew range plus a pair of fixing brackets that aid the fitting of the jib arm to the column. The brackets fit behind the back of the existing steelwork/column or pillar. They are all clamped together with suitable fixing bolts. The arm itself fits snugly between the upper and lower brackets. It is held securely in place by using our quality pivot pin.

Once installed, the column-mounted Jib arm can swing or slew from left to right up to 270° depending on any restrictions – We can supply slew limits if required.

Ultimate Lifting Solutions supplies over-braced profile Jib Arms as standard – we can offer underbraced or I-Beam style arms if required. And can offer more specialized articulated or knuckle-style jib arms if needed. Our easy roll quality manual push/pull trolley is fitted within the arm and will run the entire arm's length. It is also suitable to have an electric or manual hoist provided to it to aid your lifting requirements.

Ultimate Lifting Solutions can design, manufacture, and supply unique Jib arms that can be used outside with a galvanized finish to help protect against the elements. We can also provide individual jib arms suitable for wet rooms laboratories and food-grade stainless steel Jib Arms.

Ultimate Lifting Solutions' Jib Arms can be supplied to suit most requirements. And start from only 80Kgs safe working loads. We also jib arms with capacities 125Kgs, 250Kgs 500Kgs, and 1000Kgs – we also supply jib arms at various lengths starting from 2m, increasing in 1m lengths to 3m, 4m, and 5m and 6m.

How do I choose a Column Mounted Jib Arm?

Before contacting Ultimate Lifting Solutions, you must know the following information on selecting your Jib crane:

Confirm your max capacity,

Also known as your Safe Working Load(SWL, We suggest this be as close as possible to the weight of the heaviest component you will be lifting – i.e. If your object is 200 kg – choose the 250 kg Jib arm.

What height Jib do I need?

This is commonly known as the height of lift (HOL). Confirm the item's size to be lifted, tell us what you need to lift onto, and, importantly, do you have any height restrictions?

What outreach is required? What length do you need the Jib arm to be?

Consider the position of the jib arm and where you need it to reach, and keep in mind if any restrictions are to be considered, like other steelwork, pillars, etc.

Rotation angle

Commonly known as the slewing angle, standard column-mounted Jib arms have a 270° slewing angle. This can be restricted with the supply of slewing limits.

Do you require a hoist?

The most commonly fitted hoist is the electric Chain Hoist, which will increase production time by decreasing the operation time – it will pay for itself in no time at all – we can supply manually operated hoists as well. And tool or spring balancers to aid small production lines.

Hoist suspension

As standard, the wrap-around jib arm is fitted with a push/pull style easy roll trolley, which is acceptable for this type of jib crane up to 1 tonne. If you require an electric trolley, we can supply these as well.
