Maintenance & Care – Hi-Lift All Cast Jack HL485

Regular maintenance keeps your Hi-Lift working safely and smoothly for years. These jacks are designed for harsh conditions, but a little care goes a long way.

Routine Care

Clean after use: Remove mud, grit, and debris from the climbing pins and mechanism after every trip or recovery. A wire brush and light solvent work well.

Lubricate regularly: Apply light oil (such as 3-in-1 or WD-40) to all moving parts — especially the climbing pins, springs, and lifting mechanism. This prevents sticking and corrosion.

Inspect before use: Always check for bent parts, cracked castings, or damaged pins. Replace worn or damaged components immediately.

Protect from corrosion: Store the jack in a dry area when not in use. If mounted externally (on a vehicle or roof rack), use a Hi-Lift Handle Keeper or protective cover to reduce rust and vibration wear.

Check the shear bolt: Ensure the safety shear bolt is intact and properly fitted — never replace it with a harder bolt type.

Handle with care: Never drop the jack or allow the handle to fly up uncontrolled — it’s a strong spring action tool.

Recommended Service Interval

Light use (occasional off-road): Clean and oil every few months.

Heavy use (frequent recovery, outdoor storage): Clean and oil monthly, or after every muddy/wet trip.

Replacement Parts & Support

Genuine Hi-Lift service kits and replacement pins, springs, and bolts are available from authorised UK distributors.

Most repairs can be done easily with hand tools; no special workshop equipment is required.
