USING THE GOODS CARRYING CAGES with LIFTING LUGS

USING WITH A CRANE AND CHAIN SLING:

Attach a suitably rated four-leg chain sling to each of the four lifting eyes.

If using the 1508.5 (3000kg) version, the spreader bar must be located across the width of the cage to stop deflection of the sides and loads being applied to the gates.

LOADING THE CAGE:

Before loading the cage it must be positioned on firm level ground.

Open the cage door and proceed to load in a uniform manor ensuring the weight is evenly distributed.

DO NOT place items, which are higher than the cage’s mesh side panels.

If the load is too large, use a bigger goods cage.

Close and lock the cage door.

The cage can now be moved to where it is required.

LIFTING AND LOWERING A LOAD:

Raise the cage and ensure that the load is even and safe/secure.

If all is OK proceed to move the load to its required location in a smooth manner avoiding fast or jolting movements.

Once in position lower the load on to the cleared area.

Depending upon load and application you may unload the cage with the chains still attached or disconnected.

Once the cage, is empty close and lock the gate ensuring that the unit is ready to be lifted and returned to its start point.

USING WITH A TELEHANDLER:

Load the cage as detailed above.

Set the forklift’s forks to the correct width for the cage’s fork pockets making sure that they are equidistant from the centre.

Drive the forklift to the cage aligning the forks with the fork pockets.

Confirm that the forks are the correct distance for the fork pockets and drive the forks into the fork pockets.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE of LIFTING CAGE:

At the end of shift, ensure the cage is clean and empty with the gate closed and locked.

Where the larger 1058.5 has been used ensure the spreader bar is still in place and again leave with the gates closed and locked.

Where possible the cage should be stored in a clean and safe area.
