Drop-Bottom Skip – Bottom Emptying Forklift and Crane Skip
The Eichinger 2032 Drop-Bottom Skip is a heavy-duty waste skip engineered for fast and efficient discharge of bulk materials. Favoured on construction sites, farms, and industrial facilities, this bottom-opening skip features a spring-loaded trapdoor that fully opens, allowing the entire contents to fall cleanly from the base - no snagging, no slow tipping, and no hassle.
Designed for the fast and easy movement and tipping of bulk waste materials on construction sites, scrap from around factories, and farmyard waste, the BS2032 Drop-Bottom Skip is built for maximum material clearance. Equipped with a floor that fully opens to empty materials, it ensures that nothing is left behind – making it one of the most efficient methods of material disposal.
Supplied with lifting chains for quick and easy attachment to a jib crane hoist, and fitted with top-mounted fork pockets for forklift or telehandler use, this skip offers maximum handling flexibility. A built-in restraint chain ensures the skip is secure during forklift operation, while an optional castor set is available for added mobility on flat, hard surfaces.
Whether you're clearing scrap metal, muck, rubble, or yard waste, this bottom-emptying skip saves time and reduces manual handling, helping you get the job done faster and more safely.
Why Choose the Eichinger 2032 Drop-Bottom Skip?
Fast, Clean Discharge
The floor opens completely via spring-loaded flap, triggered by a pull cord or lever, ensuring no waste is left behind inside the Eichinger skip.
Dual Lifting Options
Fitted with both lifting eyes for crane use and fork pockets for forklifts or telehandlers, this versatile drop-bottom skip suits all types of material handling.
Safety First
Supplied with tested lifting chains and a fork restraint chain, the skip is secured during transport and tipping to prevent movement or slippage.
Stackable for Storage
The stackable design allows multiple units to be stored neatly on-site when not in use, maximising space.
Built for Harsh Environments
The drop-bottom skip’s heavy-duty construction, solid steel walls, and reinforced edges make it suitable for rough site conditions and repeated use.

Maintenance & Storage – Drop-Bottom Skip
For optimal performance and longevity, the skip should be cleaned thoroughly after each use, especially around the bottom flap and hinges. Check lifting eyes, chains, and fork pockets regularly for wear or corrosion. Always store on level ground, with the flap fully closed and secured. Stack units safely if storing multiples.

How to Set Up and Operate a Drop Bottom Skip
For Use with a Telehandler / Forklift
1. Set the forklift forks to the correct width to align with the skip’s lifting handles. Drive the forks into the lifting handles, ensuring the skip is positioned all the way back on the forks.
2. Ensure the skip is lifted so that, when discharged, the drop door opens against the truck. This prevents any debris or spoil from hitting the truck.
3. Once the forks are fully inserted, use the restraint chain to secure the skip to the forklift.
Caution: The restraint chain is not designed to withstand shock loads. Therefore, it should be as tight as possible to reduce the risk of snapping.
Note: The skip should always be moved around the site at a minimum safe height. It should only be lifted to its emptying height once in the immediate area where it is to be emptied.
4. When ready to empty the skip, lower it to the floor. Pull the release lever. Slowly lift the skip while continuing to pull the release lever. As the height increases, the load will exit the skip gradually, preventing sudden changes in load.
5. Once the skip is empty, slowly lower it back to the ground.
6. Once the door gently touches the ground, begin reversing slowly while continuing to lower the skip. This allows the door to close safely, without putting undue stress on the door hinges.
For Use with a Crane
The 2032 Drop Bottom Skip is designed for lifting with a 4-leg chain.
1. Ensure the skip is placed on a flat and even surface before filling. When filling, ensure the load does not exceed the stated safe working load, is evenly distributed throughout the skip, and is kept below the height of the skip’s sides.
2. To transport the skip, attach a suitably rated 4-leg chain to the lifting eyes, ensuring the hooks are securely closed before lifting.
3. Once the hooks are secure, raise the skip just off the ground and check for balance. You may now transport the skip to its required destination, adhering to your lift plan and method statement.
4. Ensure no one is in the discharge area. To discharge, land the skip in the discharge zone, pull the lever directly or by pulling the attached cable, and move away from the discharge zone. Slowly raise the skip while ensuring the drop-down door maintains contact with the ground to minimise any sudden movement of the load.
5. Ensure the skip is fully emptied, then land it on level ground to allow the door to close automatically.
